If you are baking bread for the first time – this recipe is perfect. It is super duper easy!
If you an expert bread baker, then too this recipe is yum!
The whole house fills with the aroma of fresh herbs while baking.
Do use fresh herbs instead of dried one – however, you can substitute with dried ones.
Make sure you use good quality active dry yeast. I have used Urban Platter Active Dry yeast for this recipe.
1. Flour – 2.5 to 3 cups
2. Active dry yeast – 2 + 1/4th tsp
3. Warm water (110- 120 f) – 1 cup
4. Sugar – 2 tbsp
5. Salt – 1 tsp
6. Butter – 2 tbsp
7. Parsley – 1/2 cup, finely chopped
8. Fresh herb mix (Oregano, thyme, rosemary) – 2 tbsp
In a bowl, add the warm water.
Dissolve sugar in the water.
Add the yeast and mix. Cover the bowl and allow the yeast to proof for 10-15 minutes.
Add butter and herbs.
Now add flour 1 cup at a time and start mixing. Knead into a soft dough. Kneed for 3-5 minutes. Place the kneaded dough into a well oiled bowl. Cover the bowl and place the bowl in a warm place for 1 hour.
After 1 hour, the dough would have doubled in size. Punch the dough to remove air. Place the dough on a floured surface and kneed for a couple of minutes.
Shape it into log and place it in the greased 9×5 inch bread pan. Cover again and place the pan in a warm place for 30 minutes.
8. Pre heat the oven to 190 degree Celsius for 15 minutes.
Place the bread pan in the pre heated oven and bake for 35 minutes.
Serve with a generous spread of butter.
